[12 Days of Christmas] Day 12 – Paneling Hijinks, and a special Ohayocon announcement…?! (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Anime Blogging 101 and 201 are set for Saturday, January 31, at Ohayocon, though we have no definite time yet and the date is still subject to change. \m/

One of my highlights of this year that I never really got to elaborate on was the Anime Blogging 101 panel at Matsuricon 2009. This was the first time Rakuen and I had done that panel, and despite having no people show up for the first 5-ish minutes, it went surprisingly well. Me being me, though, I got off on a few rabbit trails, and we kinda killed time with a chainsaw, and we had to rush at the end to get everything in, and hey look a Rena plushie complete with working cleaver…

BUT. We had some great people show up, including the fine boys over at Ending B, and we’re looking forward to doing it again at a certain Ohayocon 2010 from January 30-February 1!

Yes, you read that right; despite the snags that we ran into last year that (sort of) prevented some of us from going and presenting at Ohayocon ’09, we’re doing it for 2010! This time there’s even more to expect, though, and it’s not just gonna be one panel anymore.

Matsuricon ’09 Report: No, Caramelldansen’s Still Not Dead

CJ and Rakuen rocked Columbus! Well, CJ only rocked Friday night, but she made the most of what time she had there with the first ever Borderline Hikikomori Aniblogging Panel. After her and Rakuen babbled their way through that, there was lots of time for Brawl, the dealers’ room, crazy fangirls in Artist Alley and… Caramelldansening with Rakuen’s hijacked cell phone. Yes, we did get a group Caramelldansen going. And yes, CJ looked like an idiot.

Even after the beloved admin’s departure, though, there was plenty left for Rakuen to do. Between panels and gaming and tons of other stuff, Matsuricon was a blast all three days. It continues to rival larger cons’ quality, especially with its atmosphere and teen-friendliness.

Matsuricon 2009 Anime Blogging 101 Panel is a GO~!

The title says it all – writers of Borderline Hikikomori will be presenting an anime blogging panel at this year’s Matsuricon~! “Anime Blogging 101″ will take place at 5 pm Friday, August 28 in panel room 2 at the Holiday Inn in Worthington, Ohio. The hour-long panel will cover the ins and outs and do’s and don’ts of starting and maintaining your own anime blog.

Unforunately, a few things are still up in the air regarding who will actually be at the panel: we originally had 3 writers scheduled to present, but now we’re down to only CJ with Rakuen being a biiiiiiiig maybe. But no matter what, the panel will happen, so be there! Maybe CJ will bring Pocky if you ask nicely. Maybe.

Remember: 5 pm! A bit awkward timing, with CJ’s school not getting out ’til 2:45, but WE’RE DOIN’ IT! <3

Caramelldansen On @ Matsuricon 2008 [Updated]

GURREN-BLOGGIN, CARAMELLDANSEN ON!!!!

Dang, I wish someone had gotten pictures of CJ and Janette Caramelldansening. And the Lavi cosplayer dancing on a chair was superiorly epic too.

Yes, this post means that CJ, Rakuen and Janette all survived the madness that was Matsuricon. CJ almost got groped at the rave, and Janette was perpetually glomped, but the epic Artist Alley, game room and panels kept us all sane. It would’ve been nice to have the three of us face off at Brawl, though.

Oh, and the actual freaking D.GRAY-MAN and LUCKY FREAKING STAR merch in the dealer’s room this year made things better too. Yutaka~ <333

Matsuricon Updates (Panels, Events, etc.)

Matsuricon updated its page, and it looks like some of the Borderline Hikikomori crew is all set for the fun this year~! Rakuen, Janette and CJ will all be present at Matsuricon 2008, which is taking place August 22-24 in Worthington, Ohio. Wanna know what we will be up to?

Matsuricon 2007 Whose Line

Well, first things first.  The Acen videos are a bust.  It’s partly my fault for not having the foresight to check the camera ever once in a while.  We unfortunately only had one with us and it didn’t do too well.  I’ll see to it that that problem never happens again.

However, the videos from last year’s Matsuricon were requested about a week ago, so I decided to find those and at least give everyone something to watch.  So here it is, 12 games, a total of 48 minutes of content after being split up.  Enjoy the show!

Matsuricon 2007 part 2

Dealer’s room:

The dealer’s room was full of stuff, and they were selling Ramune and Pocky in there, which was a huge plus. I saw no Lucky Star merchandise, however, and very limited D.Gray-man and Code Geass merch. There was a table of various hats, ears, collars, paws and cyber goggles that was really neat, a cool t-shirt table, and a table full of really awesome swords.

I know Matsuricon’s not over yet (it ends tomorrow), but since I’ve already left, I figured I’d go ahead and report on at least the cosplay. Everything comes tomorrow since I’m not so tired.
