Brief History

CJBlackwing founded Borderline Hikikomori in August 2007.  The blog started slowly but started to grow with the addition of Crisu, who now works on administration for the International Saimoe League.  A few months later CJ opened recruitment for writers again, with Janette and Rakuen joining the staff in April 2008.  The blog had its ups and downs throughout the rest of 2008 and most of 2009.  After losing Janette at the end of the year, recruitment again opened.  Lvlln and Raph joined the team on this iteration.  CJ then announced her retirement from the aniblogisphere, and on April 2, 2010, Rakuen inherited the blog.

The leadership has changed, but the overall plan remains the same.  Most of the posts fall into episodic blogging for series airing during the current season.  We’ve recently started to venture into the world of editorials as well.  Overall, we want to have fun, because if you’re not having fun, what’s the point of blogging?  It’s thanks to all you readers past, present, and future, who have joined us on this wild ride through anime.  If not for your continued support, we probably wouldn’t be writing here today.  So here’s to the months and hopefully years to come.  The next chapter in Borderline Hikikomori’s history begins now!

    Konichi wa :o)

First of all, I want to apologize, because this message won’t be a response to your about page. I could not find an email address, which I could have used to ask you what I am about to, so I said to myself, why not try it this way. Sorry! It won’t happen again! :o)

My name is Dirk, I live in Brussels, Europe, and I am doing a research to get my degree in psychological studies. I am in my last year at the “Université Libre de Bruxelles” ( U.L.B.). My research is about the look we people bring upon Japanese animation, depending on the culture we live in.

To be able to do this study, I will need the help of people and anime sites out of Europe, so I can compare these populations. I am asking you here if it would be possible for me to add a link on your site, where people will be linked to a site (in English) were they will see an extract of a Japanese animation, and then they will be asked to respond to a questionnaire. Do you think this could be possible? If “yes”, how should this link look like (for instance, what size should it have?)

I already got like 140 European responses, but only like 8 Asian ones, which is close, but not quiet enough for a research…;o) I hope you can help me to improve this :o)

If you want to have a look at the website, the address is : http://www.toba.lu/memoire

Thank you in advance :o) For further information and responses, feel free to use my e-mail address, which you got above.

    bye :o)

You need to establish yourself a bit. It’s good to keep writing, and it will eventually get you a reader base. Beyond that, you should also try to network with other blogs and writers that publish short stories. I’m sure there out there somewhere. If people like your comments on other people’s stories, they’ll be inclined to follow your profile link back to your own stories. Then once you’ve got some viewership, make a post asking for writers and let them know what they need to send for a sample submission. Hopefully, you’ll get a few bites from it.
