Okay everyone, all together now. What. The. HELL!? Even if you suspected the ultimate outcome of this episode, there’s enough of a twisting plot to leave your head spinning. As far as we know, Izaya didn’t cause a problem, but he shows up anyway because Shizuo has to have his jollies for the day. Anyway, let’s jump right into the meat of this show.

Durarara!! 16
Giant Killing 04
Well, I am slowly recovering from ASTL as regular life kicks into effect. The day immediately after a convention is probably the worst, because you feel so drained from everything over the weekend. I still managed to find time to watch the latest Giant Killing though. This episode just goes to show you, even if you can work as a team, your opponent can easily throw a wrench into your plan.
Anime St. Louis 2010
Anime St. Louis is really the impulse convention of the year for me. I always decide to go at the absolute last-minute, and then somehow the arrangement just works. This year, I have Heidi to thank for providing the little convincing needed to go. Seriously, those puppy dog eyes are powerful stuff. I also need to thank Alisa for providing lodging during the convention so I could attend all three days instead of just one. Now, without further ado, the convention coverage!
This was far and away my favorite episode. Stella and Maria are great additions to the cast, and I’m eager to see how Riku learns to deal with them. The physical/visual gags in the 1st part had me laughing out loud, and the more dialogue and character focused comedy in the 2nd part also worked very well.
Angel Beats! 04
It’s Angel Beats! episode four and, after Iwasawa’s disappearance, GirlDeMo needs a new lead singer. It should be no surprise to anyone that their number one fan Yui has put her hand up for the role. She may be small and irritating, but she can really sing, she insists! Cue much eye-rolling from the SSS and probably the majority of viewers. She’s not discouraged, though, as she turns on the stereo and starts to play her song. We’re treated to a rock version of ‘My Soul, Your Beats!’ – the OP – with slightly different visuals and a distinct Yui focus. She finishes up, shrieks “Yay!” and… strangles herself with the microphone cord. Oh, Angel Beats!, I do love you.
Rakuen is off to Anime St. Louis, so I’ll be doing this week’s Durarara post. Hopefully he’ll have as much fun as I did at Anime Boston.
Well, the plot certainly thickens. With the return of Niekawa Shuuji the reporter (along with a flashback of him getting beat by Shizuo in episode 7), I was wondering if this would be a narrative episode like some of the early episodes. The 2nd half obviously proved me wrong as, in fact, Niekawa himself proved to play an important role in this story. He was the “fool,” so to speak.

Rainbow 03
Trust is something many of us give with great reluctance. We have to know a person for some time before we feel like we can open up to them. However, trust is a double-edged sword. When we reveal these aspects of our lives, we open ourselves to attack. It’s so easy to betray someone. It is fitting that this episode, entitled Distrust, revolves around a person who cannot trust anyone. His name? Baremoto.
Rainbow 02
I’ve been putting off this episode, partly because I’ve had something to write about every day so far, and partly because I hoped FroZen could save me from ridiculously huge files. Well, I ran out of episodes. I cleared some space on my hard disk and sat back with a nice refreshment while I waited for it to finish. Okay, enough silliness. After all, prison is serious business.
Not a whole lot happened in this episode. It could be divided into 2 parts. The 1st had Star get a lot of face time (yeah, not the most imaginative of names for a guy with a star for a head) as he interrogated Riku on his relationship with Nino. The 2nd was about Riku trying to set up his first date with Nino. There were funny parts in both, but I was disappointed that the episode ended just when things looked like they were getting good.
