Umineko 20-Ange can actually smile

She did. Really. I wasn’t entirely sure she was capable of anything but a cynical grin.

PROOF!

The more Maria develops, the more I like her as a character. She changed a lot from that really creepy girl in the first arch. I now feel like I can relate to her. Seeing the backstory on Maria was also very interesting, and her journey into becoming a Witch of Orgins. While the anime doesn’t explain that very well, a Witch of Orgins is akin to a white mage.

Umpfth! I think Sakutaro is the cutest mascot ever. In Umineko of all things.

Maria definitely a member of Team Beato though. However, I’ve been struck by a moment of insanity and can’t help but wonder if there’s a lot more dimensions to this then Beatrice good, Battler bad. It’s just…when Beato wants to be nice, she’s so dang nice.

He just gets cuter as the episode progresses.

Especially as the world of witches seems much better then the real world. At the very least, it’s thanks to witches that neither Maria nor Ange end up completely alone. Of course, you could argue that it’s thanks to witches Ange’s alone in the first place. Maria’s situation is definitely a sad one though, especially as she’s so willing to overlook what Rosa is doing.

Maria makes a good point.

Maria makes a good point.

Another character, or rather set of characters, that I’m getting more attached to as they develop are the Stakes of Purgatory. What were merely killing machines have become actual characters with personality.

Apparently the stakes are suckers for anything cute.

I really like Sakutaro’s voice actor. Usually, I don’t really care about voice actors, but this one’s voice is so adorable.

The episode ends with a deal with the devil. Say no Ange! These always end badly, and you don’t want to damn your brother to an eternity with Beato.

Uryu! I liked Sakutaro more in non-shota form though. :-p

I’m a little surprised Ange was surprised by what Lambda was telling her. If she’s able to save her brother in 1986, it only makes sense that he’d return to her… in 1986. Therefore, allowing her to not have to go through her unhappy childhood. Compare that with playing Beatrice’s game forever? Geez, that doesn’t seem like a hard decision.

      I like both. :D

Yeah, simple logic would dictate that. Also, she seems to think that getting her brother back will make everything aokay…I wonder if she’s deluding herself. Although I’m sure things would be better, I don’t know if they’d be what she thinks they will.

    @RP

I think they want to explain about parallel world

If indeed Ange return to the real world, after saving Battler, she will return to her timeline – where Battler really never returned in 1986. Another timeline will be created, a parallel world, where Battler returns – but that will be a different Ange. If you read Psyren manga, I think that is similar

Whenever I hear Sakutarou I’m half expecting he’ll start calling Maria bakayarou (Chihara Minori does a very similar voice here to when she voiced Chiaki in Minami-ke). Anyway a great job and I gotta agree it’s just too cute. Uryuuu

I don’t know how does the witch world is supposed to work, but if Ange is right now beyond the boundaries of time as a witch, I think she can still help Battler return to his original timeline, save her other self from a horrible childhood and then exist outside of her original time, she could enjoy being close to Battler right now as well; and as I said, she is a witch now, all of them are incarnations of “a wizard did it” right now, is the timeline stuff really an issue? I don’t think so…
