I am a spoilerphobe

I would like to take a few minutes to reveal a few things about myself. One, I am a huge spoilerphobe and try really hard to prevent from being spoiled. Two, I have seen very little anime dated from the past 5 years or played any visual novels beyond Katawa Shoujo. Three, I’m a little tired of people posting spoilers for me in the comments when I’ve tried pretty hard to avoid them.

So please do not post spoilers in your comments. Do not tell me about Maria in Umineko. Do not spoil Fate/Stay Night for me, especially if it’s to prove your point that I should know better and not be surprised by the ending in CANAAN, even though it was my first Type Moon show. Even if it’s been out for awhile, I might still be planning to watch it.

Which leads into my next point. I have had different life experiences and different anime viewing experiences then all of you. I also have different views on things, different hobbies, different interests. Please don’t tell me how ‘How can I not realize this?, or ‘Don’t I know better?’ and proceed to point out I’m obviously stupid. I do make mistakes, I am human, and I have nothing wrong with them being pointed out, but it makes a big difference if you do so in a mature matter or just make yourself sound like a condescending fanbrats. There is enough elitism in fandom. Don’t try to add to it

Jaded blogger had a bad day, is feeling jaded, and now going to go sulk.

And me, being the big dope that I am, went “hey fate stay/night spoilers? Let me see” and ending up completely spoiling myself for that series too.

People expect writers to be well-informed.

May not be the case, esp. with this whole blogging revolution thing, but that’s why they don’t think twice about potentially spoiling a show when responding to an article.

And don’t worry too much about the Fate/Stay thing, it’s really not that major of a point, if I recall. Certainly nothing like when ********* ***d ******** about ********, and then *** **** right ** *** ****. Man, didn’t see that one coming at all.

Point, and I do my best to keep up on information. Just at some points it’s a tad ridiculous, no I haven’t seen every anime on the face of the earth to compare it too, no I don’t think that exact way as readers do. But I guess that’s the life of journelism.

Woops! you can’t just shot me, I mean, people said it already, one cannot tell whenever someone is a Spoilerphone or not, besides, I think spoilers are meaningless if you don’t watch it with your own eyes, and you know, it is not like the original visual novels don’t have a better ending; since I already spoiled you I just want to say that I wonder why Type-Moon keeps on doing that to their anime series.

    Yes, I am done…

Quote from essay “I also have different views on things, different hobbies, different interests.”

And if you’re not to going to apologize, or at least stop being a condesending fanbrat when you’ve obviously upset me, GTFO.

Sorry then, I didn’t know you were spoilerphobe, on that note, I don’t know how many of the hikkis (that’s authors if I could understand this blog’s strukture) are the same, too bad my very first comment after so much reading and I mess up.

And just to make sure it is settled, this is an apology. XD

But I still think you must not take spoilers too seriously if you can’t see the ending by yourself, that worked for me.

        Good Luck!

    I’ll second this post.

I started out liking to know spoilers since it helped me decide if I wanted to see something or not but I realized knowing spoilers also tinted my reactions to the show and now I’m very much a spoilerphobe. (Which is why I try to keep my blog as free of spoilers as possible, so others people don’t have to worry. And why I don’t go to wikipedia when I’m trying to find out about an anime.) So far I don’t think I’ve had commenters on my blog spoil anything but I’d know that I would hate that.

And there’s tons of shows that I know are considered “big” shows in anime that I haven’t got to yet and many more noteworthy shows that I should get too but haven’t yet. For example, I haven’t seen Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and Noir to name just a few. I want what I write on my blog to be as good as possible so I don’t mind if people politely point things out but they also need to realize that there are only so many hours I can devote to anime watching and as long as the current seasons have a dozen+ good shows, I don’t have much time to watch the older stuff.

And hope you feel better soon.

I sympathize as a spoilerphobe myself, but when you’re on the internet, you’re on your own. If you don’t want spoilers in your comments, you should explicitly state it like, say, Random Curiosity does, and enforce it rigidly. Otherwise, I say, read or view ANYTHING on the internet at your own risk. There’s a reason things like goatse and RickRolling have been popular on the net, and it isn’t because people respect others’ desires not to see what they don’t want to see.
