K-On final thoughts

I honestly really enjoyed and loved this series, and am sad to see it end. Which is odd, because it certainity isn’t the most fantastic/moving show I’ve watched or really spectactular in any way. Now let’s hope no one shoots me for saying that.

Last episode was really the final episode for K-On, this was just a little extra. Compared to the end, it was pretty drab, although still cute.

Ritsu looks pretty good with her bangs down.

Overall, I really loved this series. Which is weird, as while it was a stand-out show for the spring season, in the world of anime it wasn’t really that special. Then again, I don’t think the show needed to be special to be successful.

I think my expectations had a lot to do with me developing a love for this show, as I never expected it to be amazing, or to move me. At first I expected this show to suck majorly, and then as I slowly fell in love with it, I expected to watch the adorable antics of these four and later five girls, and be entertained for half a hour. This show fullfilled these expectations and sometimes did a little more. I never expected too much, so it never let me down.

Also, K-On did really capture the spirit of being girls hanging out with each other. What happened in K-On often mirrored things that happened with my friends.

The music was really nicely done as well. From a great opening and ending theme, I was also treated to inshow songs, and even at point a really cute music video. I have no idea if I would have liked this show nearly as much without the music, and am probably better off not knowing.

What I do know is I would like a second season. Forget Clannad and all that sort of stuff. Instead, please deliver this.

I find it interesting how there seems to be a rush to redefine K-On! as “decent” for posterity, rather than the much-hyped “spiritual successor to Lucky Star” status it enjoyed at the start of the season.
