Introduction to the memory quilt project

Usually, my embroidery and my anime blogging have stayed pretty much seperate. That is, until now.

I decided that I wanted to make a quilt with at least one square representing every anime I’ve watched(thank you myanimelist for logging this!) at with any luck, I’ll have a nice new quilt before I leave the house for college next summer.

I’ll will making a post about each patch with reflections on that particular anime. There won’t be any babbling about making the patch or such, unless I’m asked directly.

I hope you enjoy reading about this project as much as I’m enjoying doing it!

Post Mother Marathon

It’s finally over after 77 hours.  This is one of the most exhausting things I’ve done in my life, but we did so much good.  The marathon shattered expectations and records, with the goal of $6000 being met at 10 in the morning on Saturday, just 40 hours in.  The final donation count is $10450, which is 174% of the original goal.  The last two thousand or so were the results of a charity auction in the closing hours of the marathon.

You also might remember I said the chat was kind of crazy.  Here’s the log statistics.  14.1 MB in size, 6397 pages, 1929710 words in length, 14297426 characters typed.  You can shave off about 600000 words for usernames and timestamps.  To give you a comparison, the Harry Potter series is approximately 1 million words in length.

I know several people from the community that visited, a few even messaged me.  If you stopped by for any time at all, thanks for the support.  See you in July.

Spring Season impressions

I have risen from the dead, and with a post about my thoughts on the shows this season as we’re already halfway through a lot of them. I’m actually watching a lot of shows this season, and there’s more I still want to watch. Just…don’t have the time. It seems to be a strong season though, and here’s what I think.

Anime Central 2009 Report

Yet another convention has been and gone, this time it’s Anime Central. Last year was really a train wreck of a convention, so I didn’t have very high hopes for this year’s model. I was very surprised to see things were handled far better this year than last. So let’s take a look at the con.

The CC quotient is exceptionally high.

The CC quotient is just a bit high.

Pani Poni Dash! OVA review

About three weeks ago, the Pani Poni Dash! boxset was finally released in Japan, and within was a brand new OVA episode.  This is something I’ve been waiting for since it was announced months ago, so let’s take a look at it.

Just this past week, I watched a series that spanned 25 years: the Gunbuster and Diebuster OVAs.  And now, for those of you that haven’t seen these two Gainax works as of yet, I’ll review them for you.  We’ll begin at the beginning, Gunbuster.
