Spring 2009 Anime Preview

Spring of last year brought about some awesome (and notorious) series, and this year’s lineup looks just as epic. Still a ton of crappy porno adaptations, but loads of new or manga-based franchises to wow us.

Due to time constraints (also known as REAL LIFE DESU) we may not be blogging as many series this year, but we’re at least going to keep our eyes on some of these. Also, stay tuned for any word of a series being snapped up by a North American licensing company! We’ll surely cover that. (CJ is betting EDIT: betted on Fullmetal Alchemist 2 being the first, and she was right! Funimation got it!)

Anime St. Louis Report

I know it says on the Convention page that I was planning to be there, but due to some developments, that looked like it was going to crash and burn.  Then suddenly everything cleared up on Thursday.  So, I literally arranged a convention the morning it started, which I hope to never do again, but thank you so much to those that helped make it happen.  Now then, on to the report!

Deborah Fourzan found

Via America’s Most Wanted.

This is an update to a post I made almost two weeks ago.  And quite frankly I’ve never been so happy to eat my own words.  The missing congoing child was safely recovered in Washington state, and her abductor has been taken into custody.  So, if you were lying awake, wondering what, if anything, was going to happen with that, now you know.

If only more cases could end this way…

I’m getting bored with Maria Holic

This is pretty much how I’m feeling toward SHAFT right now. Tl;Dr Shaft should just make Mariya the main focus of the show.

You mean I’m supposed to have a LIFE? Sigh…

My thoughts exactly.

No, this not going to be an emo, weepy, “I hate the blogosphere so I’m quitting KTHXBAI” post.

This is an optimistic but realistic “I wish I had more time for fandom and anime in general but life’s kinda taking over” post.

Sigh.

Deborah Fourzan Still Missing

Author’s Edit: She’s been found!

Via ANN.

For those of you that haven’t been paying attention for the last month, on February 2, Deborah Fourzan went missing from Tecumseh, OK.  Why does this have any bearing on you at all?  Well, in her note upon disappearing, she mentioned that she and her abductor were going to attend several anime conventions on the way out west to a big one in California.

Great Teacher Onizuka Review

Eikichi Onizuka. 22 years old. Even as Japan keeps turning out more new anime, there’s still perfectly good series out there from the past, and that’s especially true for people who might have been introduced to anime just recently. It’s hard to believe that GTO will be 10 years old this June, but age has nothing to do with a good anime. So I’ve devoted the last few days of my life to this series.
