It sounds like an actual live music event, but no.. it’s just another audio CD. But it’s a great CD. I finally get the full version of “Gravity,” among other wonderful and hilarious tracks. The cover to the CD is even memorable. Lucky Star just never fails to astonish me.

1. Uchouten ga Tomara nai
2. Uchouten in da House ~Say That Hip Hop Shit!~
3. Gravity
4. Motteke! Sailor Fuku ~Hassha Melody~
5. Misoji Saka
6. Lucky Star Mush! ~DustFunk Lozik~
7. Medaze, Tenchou!
8. Pa Pa Pa Pa Patty strike back ~Mataha Patty wa Ika ni Shite, Shinpai Suru no wo Tome Ikary~
9. Emirin no Theme
10. Kaorin no Theme
11. Hebi to Kaeru
12. Minna to Issho
Shiraishi Minoru continues to be a star and one awesome man in this disc (along with Konno Hiromi as well), but we get some other bonuses too. I already mentioned “Gravity,” but Patty’s piece in Track 8 is also lots of fun if you enjoyed the short 1:17 track from her character CD when she listed the key otaku centers of Japan.
Track 1 is a fun duet (mixed in with random conversation bits) between Minoru and Akira. Track 2 is perhaps an extension of the mood started in Track 2, going hip hop as the title suggests (although I think their saying “hip hop shit” is just a cute way to show attitude or style, because I don’t think it crappy in any way).
Gravity is Track 3, and it’s very nice to be able to listen to more than 90 seconds of the song. However the extended part did leave my ears feeling a bit confused, but only because I wasn’t used to all the new words. The rest of the song’s lyrics and delivery doesn’t seem as powerful at first listen, but again, it might be because I had gotten so familiar with the short version. (Edit: Yep, on the second listen, it’s much better. <3)
Track 4 is 18 seconds; just another quick blurb of the series theme riff but with bells. Feels Christmasy.
Track 5, “Misoji Saka,” has to be related to “Misoji Misaki” somehow by the sheer similarities of their titles, but my non-fluency prevents me from figuring it out. It definitely is another Konno Hiromi song, but not sung in such an enka style. It still sounds as dramatic, though, using the deep voice — and the mixture of modern plus classic instruments is very nice.
Track 6 is called Mush and I will think it refers to how things are mushed/mashed together. This track is reminiscent to “Lucky Star Douga” and other mix tracks from the ReMix CDs. Since I listen to almost all the Lucky Star CDs all the time, I really enjoy this and picking out the pieces used in the mix.
Track 7 is Animate Tenchou’s theme! So Tomokazu Seki gets a song. Fun, fun. ^^
And yay Track 8. It starts with pretty much the same as what you hear in Patty’s character CD, but then it goes on with her excitement about being otaku. She even leads you in repeating her chant after her, correcting you if you say it wrong (or properly, depending on your viewpoint). It’s just like a pep rally. And I just enjoy her voice.
Track 9 was surprising; I thought Shiraishi had a crush on only Fukuhara Kaori, but now Kato Emiri gets a theme song, too. Well I won’t complain, as it sounds just as cute and pretty, too. That damn playboy; he already has Akira, too, and now he’s claiming both the Hiiragi twins.
And cutely enough, we get another short 29-second instrumental (bells) version of “Kaorin no Theme” in Track 10, just to know that Kaori isn’t left out of the fun.
Shiraishi goes solo in Track 11 in a slow-paced song (but not without energy) and in Track 12 with an even slower, softer-paced song. This one is primarily accompanied by acoustic guitar and is sweet-sounding; it sounds like an ode to the series and Lucky Channel from what little I can pick out of the lyrics.

So if you’re a fan of Lucky Star and its music, this CD is just yet another amazing addition to your already-huge collection of ear candy. For the non-fan, perhaps a few select tracks like 5 and 9, which don’t have to do much with the series canon or its injokes, may be nice to listen to.

This is one of the greatest CD covers in anime since the HidaSketch Abbey Road one.
…
That cover. Although I like how they credited Gravity in the CD: by ‘m.o.e.v’. Moe-v. :D
The Lucky Star Mush! is definitely my favorite track. I love anything with Ne Ni ge de Reset! so it was a bliss to listen to. I was pleasantly surprised and glad to hear Emiri getting her own theme too. Damn that Shiraishi, indeed.
Before I didn’t know what the Hassha melodies were supposed to be but then it hit me because I was looking at “hassha” and then I got it. I would LOVE to hear these tunes at the train stations. The only popular tune I’ve heard at a train station was Astro Boy’s theme song.
This is amusing.
It’s probably horrible of me that seeing “Emirin no Theme” and “Kaorin no Theme” together, the first thing I thought of was: “harem ending?“
Actually I think that’s more of a nod to m.o.v.e., aka the group that did those types of songs in Initial D that they parodied in Lucky Star. It’s fun though. :P
Wow that’s a really short OST. I can’t really say I found much of Lucky Star’s music fair to be memorable or remarkable, but they seem to have something going there with the album cover. Since Star Wars is insanely popular in Japan for some reason I gather it will help the CD sell well.
Nothing wrong with it at all, DKellis.
Why shouldn’t Star Wars still be insanely popular in Japan? Probably the only places it isn’t insanely popular are Cuba and North Korea.
Besides Uchoten ga Tomaranai, Emirin no Theme is defnitely my favourite. I think Emirin’s version sounds even more romantic than Kaorin’s one. Woot!
Minoru’s working on a harem or something. He recently he’ll do a song for Minori Chihara, his costar in Ga-Rei Zero.
this rocks man! merry christmas! <3
