[Toradora 4] Taiga so cute

I’m glad that I have a series that can make me laugh any time of the day (Kannagi is the other; Clannad just gives me moe attacks). Toradora has been its wonderful share of moe, but the bits of comedy are well appreciated, too. And yes, it’s mostly Taiga. Rie continues to do a nicely unique job with her. I do enjoy hearing more Horie Yui, too, in Kushieda, but her character isn’t nearly as fun as Taiga’s.

(Totally jamming out to the OP and ED singles while I’m writing this entry.)

My favorite parts:

Taiga chewing food

She’s so obedient sometimes, just following that Ryuuji says. When she doesn’t realize it and snap back (like when he told her to cut potatoes), she’s really adorable.

“*SHOVE* Here!”

But she’s also adorable when she does snap back. That was hilarious — a cube potato. And then the above cap where she forcefully shoves the pictures into him. I thought she wasn’t supposed to dent them? ^^

This looks adorable in freeze-frame; it totally depicts a different mood of her, like she’s cheerful 100% of the time like Kushieda. She wants a hug!

Okay, or not.

The story’s been really charming. They both like other people, so they ally together to help each other out. But I can see that the real relationship will be between the dragon and tiger by the story’s end. Or even if they never fully end up together, the bonding and friendship and their dynamic are nice enough. I love the sweet moments between then; I laugh at the fighting, injuring moments. While Taiga borrows lines and traits from Louise and Shana, Taiga is truly her own self, blushing furiously at Kitamura but unwilling to appear completely weak in front of Ryuuji. But like I said, there are moments where she doesn’t raise her guard, and I personally just melt.

The twist about Kitamura already confessing confused me a lot, almost as much as it did Ryuuji. But Taiga’s explanation made some sense I suppose. But I also echo Ryuuji’s next question: why doesn’t he try again or just go out with her? And why did nothing happen during the confession we saw at the end of ep2? Seems that now we know this happened, the ep2 confession should have played out a bit differently. Or are Taiga and Kitamura “even” now with 1 confession and 1 rejection, and now the next time it happens, it will work out?

No idea if Ryuuji’s ever going to say anything to Kushieda. Definitely not vice-versa. But points for him on keeping that picture of her and the pudding, heh.

Kitamura made it clear enough – he *liked* her romantically in the past tense, as in he moved on. So it made sense he rejected her as he no longer view her as a romantic interest but can be friends – exactly what he said in episode 2.

Taiga’s trouble was also given by herself – after Kitamura confessed which made her aware of his existence she began observing him, and only during that process did she developed feelings for him.

Put simply – their timing was bad, VERY bad.

I get a kick out of how short she is. ^_^

Thank God they did restore the ‘I confessed to you last year’ Kitamura revelation. It makes the scene in episode 2 make that much more sense as a result… and of course, illustrates that, as with everything else, timing’s important with regards to relationships. Kitamura did like her, but he’s moved on – and she only now realizes that she did like him. But now it’s a hopeless battle. And it shows that being tsundere doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll win in the end… which was another point from the source that got salvaged.

And at least Kawashima showed up – I’m a bit more hopeful now after seeing them put the bit about Kitamura in. Otherwise that earlier confession and his response make less sense than they do now. Pity about the violence, though… but at least she gets to be cute as well. Notice how she DOES avoid always battering Ryuuji, which is something I was hoping to have seen more of the previous episode.
