Sugoicon 2008 prereport

Well, I’m most definitely not ready to go yet, but while I’m packing, and cleaning my car, here’s what to expect from Sugoicon 2008.  IE – shameless plugging.  All times are taken from the tentative emails sent out to the panelists.

FUNimation vs. t3h Bootleggers: Round 1, FAITO!

Anime News Network reports that liek whoa Funimation is finally suing the crap out of four anime DVD sales sites for selling bootlegged dubbed copies of the Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket and Dragonball DVDs, with other series possibly involved. The sites and sellers are DiscountAnimeDVD.com, BuyDVD.com, N Trading and DOES; these sellers are allegedly all related and have the same owner.

This battle might just be more epic than all the chapters of Soul Eater combined.

Last week’s episode left Touma in a fight with Kaori in completely barren section of the city.  How’s he going to get out of this mess?

Lucky Star Music Fair is delightful

It sounds like an actual live music event, but no.. it’s just another audio CD. But it’s a great CD. I finally get the full version of “Gravity,” among other wonderful and hilarious tracks. The cover to the CD is even memorable. Lucky Star just never fails to astonish me.

[Toradora 4] Taiga so cute

I’m glad that I have a series that can make me laugh any time of the day (Kannagi is the other; Clannad just gives me moe attacks). Toradora has been its wonderful share of moe, but the bits of comedy are well appreciated, too. And yes, it’s mostly Taiga. Rie continues to do a nicely unique job with her. I do enjoy hearing more Horie Yui, too, in Kushieda, but her character isn’t nearly as fun as Taiga’s.

(Totally jamming out to the OP and ED singles while I’m writing this entry.)

So, I will say loud and clear, for any complaints and doubts I’ve had toward Campus Lagann, I now apologize. Why? Well, this.

But seriously, most of the time we anibloggers look at anime, manga, and the all around Japan side of things.  Very little attention gets paid to things that happen over here.  Today, I’m going to do the latter.  Those of you that frequent cosplay circles might have heard of a user named Logan5.

If you haven’t figured out where this is going, you may wish to get your eyes examined.

Last week left Index with quite a grevious wound, Touma angry that there was nothing he could do to help, and Komoe as the only person in the city that could save her.  Where are we going to go from here?

Funimation Acquires Shikabane Hime

My, that was certainly fast, we’re only going into the third episode and it’s already picked up.  The current plan is to offer subbed episodes for free on their various streaming partners, including the ever-present Youtube.  They’ll also be offering a high quality download of the episodes for $1.99 a pop.  Click after the break to see my opinion.
