This series is such a tease, such a guilty pleasure. I’m watching the release by StrikeS, who claims it’s all uncensored, which I assume means they’re drawing from the DVD versions instead of the web-release or TV-release episodes. (But I’m confused because ep3 still had the “We like to thank our sponsors” screen.) Well anyway, I’ll just believe I’m getting fewer sunbeams and fewer clouds blocking my view of the already ridiculous amount of pantsu in the show.

I wrote previously that it’s a bit too much, even for a lolipantsu fan … or perhaps I’m just suddenly feeling embarrassed about it since this series is so much in the open. I enjoyed Sky Girls because it was a lot more subtle, that you had to be secretly looking for the fanservice instead of it being shoved in your face whether you like it or not. For Strike Witches non-loli-fans just don’t watch it at all .. or have to cringe or look away whenever the camera zooms in on some select areas.
I guess it’s not as fun when it’s so easy (which is a horrible thing to say, but…).

Anyhow, I’m trying to catch up here. My favorite characters are still my favorite — the Russian Sanya is sleepy a lot, but it seems like it’s because she always does night patrol and uses up all her magic doing so. So daytime isn’t great for her. Francesca, though, is probably more energetic, but she still naps all day. It really is a stretch how the last few people who can save the world are seemingly so carefree and lazy. The Sky Girls team loved their days off, but they were presented as serious people.

Magic circles ftw!
Ep2 concludes the cliffhanger at the end of ep1. Action is pretty good; the music even more outrageous (but awesomely so). And it’s not without the additional service, such as Mio’s companionship with Yoshika. But I’m pleasantly surprised at Perinne’s jealousy; she gained a lot of points there: the Shinku voice plus megane plus blushing envy and ojou-sama rage. That and she doesn’t suffer as much from GONZO’s pantsu-shot abuse.

Lynne gets development in ep3, and I have to like her more because of it. Ep3 really defined a lot of the girls’ basic personality types, so you get to pick and choose whom you want to follow. Ah, and I’m just remembering that the series is 13 eps, too, instead of 24 or so, so perhaps the plot will end when Europe is retaken .. or something.

A sniper and her spotter; it works out.

Such a “convenient” placement of the arm.
Yoshika was pretty envious of the other girls this whole episode. I wonder if she’ll just end up having a scene with all the rest of them (some sort of suggestive interaction) by the end of the series. It’s just common life in the military right? Same thing as the odd buttslaps in professional sports, except not as manly (if ever).
Hoping for more Neuroi battles. At least it’s never all-fanservice; we get our gunfire and buzzing propellor sounds too.

Mmm… Uncensored eh. *Goes to watch
Mm, to clarify, it’s not H-level uncensoring like Kanokon probably is. But supposedly the racier pantsu shots aren’t obscured by ‘convenient’ clouds or steam or sunbeams or whatnot.
You should pay BOST too.
The uncensored version comes not from a DVD (which is not pressed yet even in R2), but from a different TV station. Strike Witches are shown at 16 stations in varying time slots; some screenings are more family friendly, others are more fanservice oriented. Look at the post at Sainkaku Complex (I linked it last week).
BOST sells a censored version, which sucks.
Crisu, you forgot the black fog of censorship. lol.
I know they´re version is slightly censored, but it makes perfect sense to pay for it, then download StrikeS fansubs and watch in moral good health while supporting the (much needing) studio.
Plus, the only censor like 2 seconds in ep 3 and 5, after a hundred other panty and oppai shots. So it´s only like .5% censoring.
Doesn’t matter, they sell something edited, i never spent a cent for bostv version. They pretend to beat fansub in this way ? Fansub are uncut now, so they fail a lot. Gonzo fail. Fansub wins again. This is my opninion.
