TTGL voice actor cast announced AKA Bandai, I hate you

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=62421

Bandai announced it. They threw out Patton. I was going to be upset about now matter what. But…they replaced him with Bosch. Fantastic. We get one of the most talented voice actors around replaced by a boring angst machine.

Otherwise, I’m mad at two more choices. Simon is now being done by the same person who does Ben in Ben 10: Alien Force. I hate Ben 10: Alien Force. I hate listening to Ben every time he opens his mouth. He was an alright actor is other roles, but am so turned off by his work in Ben:AF, I never want to hear anything resembling his voice again. And to be honest, I don’t think he fits Simon. But he has done Sasuke, so maybe he’ll do okay.

And Nia is voiced by the same person who did Starfire.

To be honest, I don’t think any of these people are equipped to handle these roles without making them sound fake or insincere, or completely butchering this. I’m also very puzzled by the number of voice actors with short resumes thrown into big roles, such as Kittan’s. I expect the quality of this show to go straight out the window. Maybe they’ll surprise me.

Why couldn’t ADV have kept it? Why?

Although I am still snickering about Karasu’s voice doing Kamina, and looking forward to this in an  awesome or terrible way…

EDIT: After raging, a night of sleep, I have to admit, ADV’s list wasn’t the most fantasic either. Overall, I’m worried that this is sign that Bandai may be doing a sloppy job on this one.

    American voice actors are really crappy. I used to actually like american voice actors but that was back when Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Tenchi were on TV and that was my only place for my anime fix. I never watch a DVD with the dubs anymore. The English voice actors are just horrible.

    Oh well I’m glad DVDs are bilingual. And if I think about buying this series I’m gonna just stick with the subbed DVDs.

    I use to think that, but some dubbed works I’ve seen have blown me out of the water. One example is Princess Tutu, they captured the feel beautifully, and I think better then the sub. That’s how I feel in love with Patton, actually.

    So sometimes yes, sometimes no, I think it’ll be sub over dub on this.

    The only name on the list that really stood out to me was Stephanie Sheh as Kinon. I love her work with a passion (Orihime in Bleach, Hinata in Naruto) so I’m pumped for her being in it.

    But… like you said, some of the voices I was like ‘Uh, mmkay, w/e T_T’

    Johnny Yong Bosch is an angst machine because people keep casting him in the freaking angst roles. I’ve met him in person and he’s actually a fairly nice and funny guy. His breakout roll was Vash the Stampede and now he’s just pigeonholed in that area.

    @CJ Backwing-and weirdly, she’s in a smaller role. o.O

    @Aaron-I have no idea what him being nice has to with the fact I think he’s a boring voice actor.

    Possibly because nice is a polar opposite of angst?

    @Aaron-Okay, to put it this way, being nice has nothing to do with the fact he can’t voice act his way out of a paper bag. I’m talking about his skill as a VA, not as a person. ^_^;

    Eh, he did Renton, at least he sounded different there. ^_^;

    Why do you hate Ben 10: Alien Force? What’s wrong with it? At least Johnny Bosch isn’t playing this role as well.

    Also, scottfrye, how can you hate all American voice actors when some of the actors in the anime you’ve named are still working and are still doing VA for anime. All American VA is not bad. I cannot accept blanket statements like that.

    @Yotaru Vegeta-You really want to open that can of worms?

    Simplely put, Ben 10 was a great show, and Alien Force is a crappy sequel with any of the character, or fun the orginal had. It’s an ordinary boring superhero show now when it once stood out.
