The long awaited for episode 6 of xxxholic was fun. It mostly revolved around the gambling game of Mah-jong, and although Shinsen-subs was nice enough to put up some explanation…

I still spent most of the episode like this.

Well the rest of the day involved some money spending. I got the Shana himitsu figure by Solid Works and two Clannad figures by Kotobukiya. $60, $40, and $40 respectively prior to tax. Bleh, tax. I wonder sometimes if it’s just a gimmick to add more to the cost, since all the vendors seem to make up their own percentages or round off in weird ways. Do they really have to report these sales and pay income tax for them? If so then that’s okay; it’s just a weird way about doing it. If not then shame on them.
So I died happy once already last month. Now Megami Magazine has to revive me and kill me all over again with its latest Lucky Star poster in the July issue.

I suppose cons do repeat themselves a lot … at least the dealers’ inventories do. Unbought stuff rolls over while there are a few new things in stock. FUNimation and Bandai have their usual tables, although I think ADV is absent this year. Bandai has the Lucky Star DVDs at about 10% off the Amazon.com price. It’s not bad if you want it and want it instantly, but I can’t quite get myself to buy DVDs at a con. I’d rather wait for online sales.
Song of Happiness
Sinister looking guy? Check. Van filled with elderly people? Check. Camcorder to record the event and make it look like an accident? Naturally. Additionally, Aoki’s father is being carted off to the hospital. This is how episode 4 of Himitsu starts off.

Well I am posting remotely from Dallas, TX, as preparations are being made for A-Kon 19. Hotel rooms in the Dallas Sheraton are $156.00 per night, and you can cram up to five people in a room. Such is the plan of my anime club, taking 19 people in four rooms at this hotel. We’ve saved up all the money and are ready to have fun.
Well, first thing’s first. The Acen videos are a bust. It’s partly my fault for not having the foresight to check the camera ever once in a while. We unfortunately only had one with us and it didn’t do too well. I’ll see to it that that problem never happens again.
However, the videos from last year’s Matsuricon were requested about a week ago, so I decided to find those and at least give everyone something to watch. So here it is, 12 games, a total of 48 minutes of content after being split up. Enjoy the show!
Just a note for everyone, the Darkrai movie is being released this weekend. Even if you aren’t a fan of the anime, you might be a game fan, and it’s worth noting toys r us is giving out Darkrais to celebrate. So show up with your Diamond or Pearl. Or both if you’re like me. xD

Well it’s an idea, actually; I don’t have any actual recipes to share yet. After Kotaku reported on this event which featured Final-Fantasy-themed drinks (they also had a Mario theme), I wonder if an anime convention could (if not already) cash in on a similar idea with anime-themed drinks.
Not that I’m much of a barista to know what goes well with what, but perhaps the community is more well-versed in the language of alcohol than I am.
The site has drinks such as Cactuar, Moogle, Summoner Yuna, Limit Breaker, and Phoenix Down. I was thinking of coming up with general anime drinks with the names:
1. Spirit Bomb
2. Kamehameha
3. Tallgeese
4. Ikari Shinji “virgin”
5. Shinigami
6. Dragon Slave
7. Ilpalazzo
8. Bulbasaur
9. The Tsundere
10. Chocolate Coronet
11. Bloody Sekai
12. Sui Dream
13. Starlight Breaker
Of course names don’t mean too much without the drinks that make them up, but I suppose they give guidelines as to what color and what taste they should have.
Just a random idea. I need to pack to go to A-Kon this weekend…

I’ll keep this brief because I’m tired and I’m moving tomorrow (today?). Gainax is working on an anime adaptation of the Shikabane Hime manga. A quick search through Google tells me that the story revolves around Makina Hoshino, a girl who was killed by a ghost. In order to enter heaven, she now has to hunt down 108 other corpses. And that’s about it. Since I play the Suikoden series, I already know how easily contrived the plot can become, especially when it comes to hunting down every last one of those suckers. This is being added to Gainax’s already full plate working on the Evangelion relaunch and Gurren Lagann movies.
Before I ask what you think I guess I also have to ask if you’ve heard of this series before now…
