I don’t particularly enjoy posting about drama like this (trust me, I’d rather be finishing my D.Gray-man review) but since I said I’d post the email from Owen, here it is. I took the screencap yesterday but got busy and didn’t get to post it.
The last sentence in the first paragraph especially annoys me. “Even female anime bloggers need to be open-minded”?!? That’s ridiculously sexist if you ask me.
And now he’s clamming up about it. >_>; This isn’t funny anymore, Owen.

Wait, I don’t see why you are being required to watch it if you don’t like it. If he’s fine with you not watching kimikiss, why must you watch Clannad? You can’t force yourself to watch and enjoy something. Not liking something popular after you’ve tried it isn’t being a nonconformist, it is called having an opinion.

How could you NOT like this kind of dorama? It always cracks me up, that’s for sure.
Clannad and True Tears are awesome ofcourse, but forcing someone to watch them is kinda stupid. :p
As for Owen, just ignore him I guess, it’s a waste of time trying to reason with these kind of people.
The weirdest part of this story is how he’s talking about Clannad as if it’s actually good?
Owen is an ass. Stop the presses. I think it’s just amazing that people tolerate this kind of behavior from him, let alone try to defend it.

It really sound like someone’s trying to vent the more I read this. On a serious note, I know we don’t always agree as bloggers. That’s why I like the anime blogosphere because of this melting pot of varying viewpoints. But when someone starts pulling the “even female anime bloggers have to be open-minded”… yeah… that’s really pushing it.

i’m sorry but this letter is far too outright ridiculous and obnoxiously ignorant for me not to laugh at it…i know you’re frustrated, but maybe you can take a step back and do the same…
really, watch what you want, though! someone needs to let Owen know that that’s the beauty of anime - there’s stuff for everyone to enjoy! there are people that would swear by how amazing “Welcome to the NHK” was, but i personally hated it with a passion that burned from deep within my soul…
anyway (longest comment ever…^^;), don’t let it bother you. there are always gonna be stupid people on the interwebs…the only thing that confuses me is how this one got into a leadership position. :/

And to everyone else… I know this whole mess is just kinda stupid. Things were said that shouldn’t have been said, yes, but I’ve done things like that before too. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m not worried about this anymore, and I will not post on this again unless Owen says something truly offensive or someone else gets annoyed/harassed to the breaking point.
Besides, my cousins are in town. I have important things to do (like play crackball in our grandma’s front yard and demolish each other at Kirby Air Ride until our brains explode. :D)

I found this thanks to the massive amounts of hits I got off it (which for a starting blogger like me is a huge spike in the graph baseline of 3). Thank you to lanie-mon and I’m glad to see you enjoyed the article, despite it being a depressing topic.
That email’s pretty offensive. I’m a girl, I DO like cute things, but that doesn’t mean I like cute anime/manga. In fact, for the most part, I steer clear of the cute genres based on past watching experience. His last line is pretty bad but I had a laugh a bit at the hypocrisy. It seems that he’s not very open minded about personal preference.
I don’t know much about the organization except for what’s been mentioned but I doubt it’s the be-all-end-all of anime blogging. There are so many good blogs out there on the web that aren’t part of some kind of organization run by a guy with less than stellar PR skills. I hope this mess clears up soon. (And good to see another female blogger in the anime world. ^_^)

Clannad reaked of retardedness and constant “thousand burst kicking” from Tomoyo to poor Youhei. I don’t even waste diskdrive space on True Tears. I find moe animu based on visual novels sick, disturbing, and dehumanizing.
But enough about me. Let’s talk about you. The move away from animu elitism is always a correct one in my book.
