Anime News Network has reported that Funimation has now licensed the epic fantasy Claymore’s 26-episode anime adaptation. The manga was picked up in the U.S. by Viz Media, so some fans are surprised that they didn’t acquire the anime as well. Funimation has previously released Fullmetal Alchemist, Gunslinger Girl, Desert Punk, Trinity Blood and many other titles.
Currently, there is no word on release schedules or dubbing. However, Funimation usually either does dubbing itself or gets someone else to do it.
Personally, I am THRILLED that Funimation decided to license this. Though the anime version is supposedly weaker than the manga, both versions have large fanbases. I myself haven’t seen it, but it sure looks good. ^_^; Swords, strong-willed female role models and monsters, niipaa~
Funimation did a wonderful job with FMA’s release, and I can’t wait to see what they do with Claymore. I am concerned, though, about it getting shafted like Tsubasa Chronicle. Tsubasa had an incredible delay (I believe 18 months) between its licensing and beginning of releases, and that is unacceptable in today’s market.
Let’s hope for the best, though~ Man, us fans have gotten spoiled these past two days, with Media Blaster’s announcement of Night Head Genesis‘ licensing as well… :D
Oh yeah… by the way, SOMEONE NEEDS TO HURRY UP AND LICENSE D.GRAY-MAN DESU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
