Eureka Seven is a mecha series, for those who haven’t heard. There are several things that set it apart from other mech series, however. The main difference would have to be the character development, which goes very deep and gets very creative. Another thing would be that the fighting style of the mechs are intuitive. Eureka has a ‘friend-like’ relationship with the Nirvash, and they can communicate. There are other differences, but this is a moment for Eureka and Renton. Let’s give it to them, shall we?
Renton has a ‘love at first sight’ complex with Eureka. Her knowledge of machinery sets him off from the very start, with some laughable results. His boring life gets a lot less boring hanging around Eureka, especially when she first crashes the Nirvash into his house.
Immediately afterword, they were talking together, laughing together, and holding hands. She convinced him to come with the Gekko State, and even still he hopes to get her to notice him…
Until he learns that she has ‘kids’. These kids are not really kids, but are in fact (SPOILER) kids that were orphaned. As an ex-military girl for Gekko State, she may have killed their parents. So in the end, her loving motherly personality won out. She took the children and raised them on the Gekko ship with Holland and crew. (END SPOILER)
In the end, however, she realizes that she does love him. Well, imagine Renton’s happiness! The character transformation follows through until the end. Renton went from annoying kid to respectable man in that short amount of time. Nirvash was with them through it all, especially when Eureka and Renton kiss in the anime (free-falling through the air, with Nirvash scooping them up at the right time) The manga has more sappy moments overall, but the kiss takes a little longer to happen.

This concludes it. Congratulations Eureka and Renton! Be happy!

PS- I did a little fanart, for anyone interested:
Eureka Seven did what it did well, and one of the things it did was romance.
I still remember *that* fight from episode 20, though.
