*squee!* ADV’s Anime Network TV channel launched a site full of streaming anime today~! Notable series on the site include Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann (subtitled), Kurau Phantom Memory and Utawarerumono. ANN has a full article (but I found the site without them, so :P)
It’s exciting to hear that ADV is embracing fans’ willingness to watch series online. I’m sure the online viewer would’ve been a success even if fans had to pay for it. The only problems I had with the site are the 30-second ads (we all hate ads, you know) the few grammatical errors in descriptions, and the fact that there’s only 13 series. But 13 is still more than any legal anime site has done before; if I remember correctly, it’s more than both Adult Swim and Toonami Jetstream. Now If only they had Excel Saga on there…
Even more notable than the number of series, though, is the fact that all of Gurren-Lagann is going to be available for free, according to the ANN article. Episodes will allegedly be available for an unspecified amount of time (judging by the phrasing, 3 weeks) on the site, which is sort of like what AN’s VOD service, Toonami Jetstream and AS already do.
Let the fanboy/girl rejoicing begin~! :D
