Happy New Year 2008!

Happy New Year from Borderline Hikikomori!

Lucky Star was my absolute favorite of 2007; KyoAni continues to be hot, and I think they’ll stay hot for quite a while with Clannad and Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (has that title been 100% confirmed?).

I’ve been here maybe three weeks, and it’s been a lot of fun so far. I hope that the spring semester doesn’t bring too much stress and schoolwork, so I can continue blogging for everyone. ^_^

明けましたおめでとうございます!

sola DVD Special 2

Hooray! A sub is out; now time for reviews. This is the second of two DVD-only episodes for sola. While the whole main story is told in the 13 eps that aired on TV, these extra chapters are bonuses in character development. Well, the first special was a slice-of-life trip to the spa with a dash of fanservice. That was really nice. This one acts as a semi-prologue, detailing Yorito’s life in the days before he met Matsuri in episode 1.

SaiGAR 2008 Lineup!

-= UPDATE =-
Click here to view all my SaiGAR reports on this blog!

The 144 contestants of SaiGAR 2008 have been chosen, and the brackets have been drawn up.

This is my first time looking at SaiGAR (as I’m attuned to the moe polarity of the spectrum), and I’m surprised to see non-males among the contenders, including Nanoha and Subaru from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, Rena and Rika from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Konata from Lucky Star, and the dango from Clannad (DS is going to be happy about this).

Voting begins Saturday, January 5, 2008, and lasts through February. I wonder how far Shiraishi Minoru will get.

And CJ is sad that nobody from D.Gray-man is in the tournament.

EDIT: You can find all the SaiGAR results here as I blog the tournament each day!

[Review] Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai

News of a third season cushions the sadness that season two has come to an end. This last episode wrapped up things nicely, and I’m left very happy for Rika and Hanyuu.

sola manga coming to America this summer

First saw it on ANN. Broccoli Books has licensed the sola manga and will have volume one released by summer 2008.

According to their blog, they haven’t started translating it yet, but there’s plenty of time. Meanwhile, the dot Anime website has a featurette on it.

Matsuri, Aono, and Mayuko are so much cuter in manga form. ^_^ I’m looking forward to this.

Rumbling Hearts 9-10

Titled, “Unraveling” and “Impulses,” these next two episodes do symbolize just that.  Haruka begins to become more aware of her surroundings, and Mitsuki, basically in a stalemate without an answer from Takayuki or an answer for herself, begins to open her le– her interests to other people.

CJ’s Going on Hiatus~

I have a 3-page paper and tons of Ohayocon Artist Alley stuff to finish by January 4th, so I’m going to be on hiatus until around January 6th, 2008. The paper being due is not my fault; I DID procrastinate some, but my homeschool teacher/supervisor assigned it to me even though she KNEW I had Ohayocon that next weekend… *grumble grumble rant* If it weren’t for that fricking paper, I would not have to go on hiatus right now.

Anyway, I will return to rant/post/inform if something makes all of Otakudom explode (like Masashi Kishimoto dying or something *shudder*) so never fear~! Crisu can take care of this place until the 6th.

Here’s a picture of Lavi to show how I feel right now:

GRAR

“WHY THE %$@#ITY DID YOU ASSIGN A 3-PAGE PAPER RIGHT BEFORE MY BIG CONVENTION, YOU TWIT?!?!?”

^_^

PS- Thanks for 25,000 pageviews~!!! <3

[Review] Myself;Yourself

And alas, the show lovingly nicknamed Pronouns has come to an end. The story was certainly surprising for me while watching it. Knowing beforehand that it was based off a visual novel, I was expecting a romance/harem story perhaps like Kanon or Clannad.  I’ve been on a slice of life phase, too, with Sketchbook, so why not?  And the OP was really fun to have on repeat, and I think some of us hoped they’d actually have that concert sometime in the series.  We didn’t, but I’m still satisfied by all the characterization.

New Gunslinger Girl website content

Anime Banzai spotted it first; more Il Teatrino content is now on the Gunslinger Girl official website.

http://www.gunslingergirl.com

Half the site is still under construction, but some character artwork is offered for now. It’s definitely different from first season. I’m not sure which is cuter, as both styles don’t depict the girls as moeblobs (and they aren’t). This new style seems Higurashi-like, especially in Rico’s creepy-looking smile. Henrietta looks devious, and Triela (my favorite) looks flat-faced in that sample photo, hm. Angelica gets brown hair. And ooh, I do like Claes. Giuse (Jose?) looks younger.

I’m sure it’ll look a lot better once animated, and we see everyone in action. ^_^ Looking forward to it! (There’s a trailer section that will be up soon, too.)

12 Days of Christmas: OMAKE!

It’s time to reveal the totally haphazardly presented theme of BH’s 12 Days of Christmas posts! But first let’s SING (yesh, SING) the whole song that we’ve come up with:

On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
12 yanderes smacking
11 mecha smashing
10 mahou shoujo

9 exorcists
8 hair ribbons

7 classic Niipaa~s
6 sola skies
5 pairs of eyeeeeeees
4 Mikus singing

3 pwnsome blondes
2 gorgeous sunsets…
and a crimson volleyball unifoooooooooooorm~!

Guessed the theme yet? It’s sort of normal/not anime related, but it’s the colors of the rainbow~! Day 1 was red, day two was orange, day three was yellow, then light green, dark green, light blue and dark blue, up through day 8 (purple.) After that, we ended up deviating from the standard colors of the rainbow, and used black, pink, gray and white (in that order.) Some days the color choice wasn’t too obvious, but look at the pictures in the posts and you’ll see how it applies. And, by the way, no one guessed it. :P

That’s all until next year~! <3 Merry Christmas!
