Stuff I’m watching, stuff I’m not watching…

… and everything in between. There were several series that I planned on watching at the beginning of the Fall 2007 season, but I ended up skipping some of them. Likewise, I’ve watched parts of some shows that I had no intention of watching. Here’s what I’ve seen so far, along with what I hope to see as soon as I get the time.

Seen:

Sketchbook ~full color’S~ episodes 1-7: Yes, I watched it, but I’m blogging it over at zeNIME, so I won’t be posting on it much here. It’s so good, though~ ^_^

Clannad episodes 1-3: Dropped it at this point because I’m not that into bishojo, even if it’s from Key. Maybe I’ll resume it at a later date. Gotta love the dangos, though…

Shion no Ou episodes 1-5: Won’t be dropping this one anytime soon. ^___^ Love it so far, and I plan on reviewing it soon.

Dragonaut episodes 1-6: Blogging this only because it’s fun to make fun of. I’ll probably drop it sooner or later.

Shakugan no Shana II episodes 1-2: Dropped this because many bloggers started calling it ‘Shakugan Days’ because it got so romantic-ish. I can’t stand romantic harem crap.

Bamboo Blade episodes 1-2: Wasn’t planning on watching this, but I like it so far because of the kendo coolness. The characters are mildly dull, though, so I’m considering dropping it. We’ll see…

Mokke episode 1: Relatively dull, but kinda cute. If things don’t look up by episode 3, I’m dropping it. ‘Nuff said.

… wow, a lot of dropped and near-dropped series. That’s sad…

Want to see:

ef – a tale of memories: Heard mixed reviews about this, so now I want to judge it for myself.

Shugo Chara!: Want to see only because the characters look interesting. Normally I really don’t care for magical girl shows, with Nanoha being the main exception.

D.Gray-man episodes 37-44

I’m running out of ways to describe D.Gray-man adequately. The harsh realities addressed in these episodes is heart-wenching at times; lagging and unnecessary at others. While these episodes never reach the low levels of quality attained by some previous episodes, they’re far from perfect. As I said before, though, the new information and plot twists being unveiled make them worthwhile.

RotW: The 9 Types of Anime Bloggers

In all honesty, I love reading other peoples’ anime and manga blogs. 80% of the time theirs pwn mine, but it always inspires me to work harder. Of course, it’s also fun to catch up on the latest news or episodes of series I don’t watch.

However, sometimes bloggers make me mad. I won’t name particular things that they’ve done, and I won’t name names, because the list goes on and on. But then it occurred to me: we’re all different, and we’re all entitled to our opinions. :P

Thus, I have come up with 9 categories for the anime/manga/Japan-related creatures bloggers out there. Lists like this have been done before, but I feel the need to put in my two cents.

Dragonaut 06 – Yay for random English words

I just realized that there’s a ton of English words in the science-ish terminology of the Dragonaut world. (Yeah, I know, I’ve been half-asleep for the past five episodes…) Normally this would be a neutral point for me, seeing as Bleach, Nanoha StrikerS and Eureka Seven all did it to an extent. But why the heck did they have to call Toa an ‘ALBUM’? Maybe it’ll be explained in later episodes, but for now it’s just nonsense.

And then there’s the constant use of ‘Mister’… that makes zero sense to me, because I’m pretty sure this show is set in Japan. I’ve seen no indicators to the contrary, but maybe I’ve missed something. But onto the actual episode review…

ANN: ‘Vampire Knight’ to be animated… not Crimson Hero

Anime News Network has reported on the next shojo manga to be made into an anime: Vampire Knight.

WHY couldn’t it have been Crimson Hero? Yeah, Vampire Knight’s popular among shojo fangirls, but CH is popular with non-drooly girls. Plus CH has so much more depth; I’ve only read two volumes of Vampire Knight (1 and 3), but the difference is still obvious! Vampire Knight is little more than a boring-girl-gets-two-hot-vampire-guys story with a dark side thrown in. CH focuses so much on the realistic relationships and daily struggles of the characters, it’s impossible not to relate to it.

I don’t mean to sound like a hater, but right now I’m somewhat frustrated. Disagree? Wanna flame me? Go ahead and try to change my mind. :)

PS- If they announce at a later date that there’s a Crimson Hero anime in the works, I’ll take back my angry rant. ^_^

Dragonaut 05 – So the moon ISN’T made of cheese?

Darn. Cheese is more hardcore than Jin, so that would’ve been better than 25 minutes of stupid Jin and stupid fanservice. At least this episode made more sense than the previous two combined. I hate it when I force myself into watching something, only to be rewarded with crap. Anyway…

I’m thankful for D.Gray-man 138 RAW…

… but this freaking chapter doesn’t refute my freaking morbid theory that Komui is going to get freaking killed off sometime soon! Seriously; I’ve had this theory for the past 3 chapters now. And there’s such a surprising ending to this chapter that I think Hoshino-sensei is about to have a little too much fun… if you know what I mean. UGH I DON’T WANT KOMUI TO DIE!!!!
