Dealer’s room:

The dealer’s room was full of stuff, and they were selling Ramune and Pocky in there, which was a huge plus. I saw no Lucky Star merchandise, however, and very limited D.Gray-man and Code Geass merch. There was a table of various hats, ears, collars, paws and cyber goggles that was really neat, a cool t-shirt table, and a table full of really awesome swords.

Most of the dealers were selling your basic stuff: posters, pencilboards, OSTs, keychains and phone straps. I saw almost no DVDs or manga, however. Maybe that’s fairly common for a con? %__% Dunno.

Artist Alley:

Artist Alley was pretty neat, and I spent most of my time there. There was multiple Pokemon fanatics who had tables, as well as a really cool Sailor Moon expert and some Bleach cosplayers. However, I also spotted a certain person I know online who I really disike. >_> It sort of suprised me to see this individual there, but it didn’t irritate me really, for certain reasons… ^____^

I ended up buying three commissions, two prints, two bookmarks and some pins. I met some really cool people (Shoutout to… uh, everyone I talked to! You know who you are!) and I had tons of fun meeting other artists!

Events and panels:

I ended up missing both the karaoke and the dance, but I went to a Live-action Sailor Moon panel, which was actually lots of fun! The lady running it showed clips from the series as well as the musical, and we laughed at some parts of it. I had no idea Japanese live-action could be so… odd. ^_^ I missed the second panel the lady ran because of another commitment (>_<) so I think I missed out on some major news regarding a possible SM re-release. Crap.

Fortunately, though, I saw part of the Masquerade with Sammy. It was fun and hilarious, especially when the Ask a Ninja/Ask a Pirate/Charlie Chaplain guy came up. There was also a funny Menchi/Excel Saga skit.

Anime showings:

They cancelled Code Geass!! Episodes 24 and 25 were set to air in the subtitle room at 4:00, and I got in there at 4:03ish and they weren’t showing it. So I asked a staff guy, and he asked another staff guy, and it turned out that none of the suckers that were apparently LIVING in the screening room wanted to watch it. WHY? Because it was episode 24 and 25 and they were like ‘Well we won’t know what’s going on’ so the guy in charge of the room changed it to some stupid slapstick show.

Look, guys, you can’t just change the schedule just because of a couple of whiners! And the first staff guy I talked to agreed with me. If they really didn’t want to watch it despite the fact that it’s sort of in movie format (it’s fairly easy for non-fans to follow), why didn’t they just leave? If that left no one in the room, then they could’ve just waited for the slightly late actual fans to arrive before they started it or something. Stupidest. Thing. EVER.

On a happier note, I caught part of Devil May Cry (dunno what episode) and there was a cool motorcycle chase. It looked kinda interesting. I might check it out. ^__^

Overall:

Despite the anime screening issues, I had tons of fun drinking Ramune, meeting awesome cosplayers and artists, playing Stepmania, and buying tons of stuff. I will probably be here next year, perhaps with an Artist Alley table!
